El Hogar Sunday Is January 14

12.22.17

El Hogar means “the home” in Spanish. Its full name is El Hogar de Amor y Esperanza—the Home of Love and Hope.  El Hogar is a project of the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras.

For the past 38 years, El Hogar has been living up to its mission to provide a loving home and education in a Christian environment for abandoned, orphaned, and hopelessly poor children, enabling them to fulfill their ultimate potential as productive human beings in Honduras. Today, El Hogar is home to 250 of those children.

All Saints began supporting the work of El Hogar in 1980, and our efforts continue today. Currently the Outreach Commission commits $12,500 annually to El Hogar, and families and groups in our parish, including All Saints School, sponsor about 12 children there.

Ready!

This special Sunday, January 14, starts when Rev. Matthew Engleby, executive director of El Hogar Project, arrives to preach at all three morning services in the Church.

Set!

He will follow that up in the Parish Hall at the 10:15 teaching to children the details of El Hogar’s orphanage and their elementary, farm, and technical schools.

Did you know that El Hogar boys run a dairy farm that All Saints had a big part in starting?  Did you know that they have a fish farm too? This year 4 girls from El Hogar graduated high school.

Go!

… to the Great Chili Supper at 6 pm in the Thomas Center! This dinner and program are brought to you by our El Hogar Committee: One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to El Hogar.
